During my internship, I was first introduced to Figma, and got the chance to meet clients, gather requirements, and translate them into user-friendly designs. That was the moment I discovered that UI/UX design is a real career, and I felt like I finally found something that made sense for me.

Hi! Iām Syazwani Mohd Akebal
A UI/UX designer with a background in Data Communication and Networking ā an unusual path that led me to a career I genuinely care about.
Based in Johor, Malaysia

My Journey
Before that, I honestly didn't know what I wanted to be. I was just following the flow. But somewhere along that flow, I found something I wanted to focus on and grow in which is UI/UX design.
At the end of my internship, I signed up for a free course on Coursera about the fundamentals of UI/UX. That's where I learned about user research, information architecture, wireframing, usability testing, and how UI brings products to life visually through layout, typography, icons, and interaction.
I got my first full-time job as a Software Engineer - UI (Jun 2023 - Jul 2024). I worked as both a front-end developer and UI designer, but most of my time was spent coding. Over the time, I realize I wanted to be somewhere where design is valued, and where I could really grow in this field.
Where Iām Heading
Right now, I'm focusing my career path toward UI/UX design. I'm passionate about designing interfaces that not only look good but actually make people's lives easier. I enjoy thinking about how users interact with a product and finding the best way to guide them.
